What a Forward Deployed AI Engineer does here
- Works on site or remotely with a client team, learning how their work really happens.
- Maps their tools and data, and agrees what must stay out of AI tools.
- Builds automations and AI agents in the systems the client already uses, such as Microsoft 365, CRM and finance tools.
- Measures each pilot against a baseline and adjusts it with the people who use it.
- Trains the client team and writes down the rules, so the work lasts after the engagement.
What we look for
- Curiosity about how organisations actually work, and patience to learn it.
- Practical experience with automation, scripting, data or Microsoft 365, or the drive to learn it.
- Clear writing and the confidence to explain technical choices to non-technical people.
- Good judgement about data, privacy and when the answer is "not AI".
Our ambition
Our ambition, set in November 2026, is to create more than 250 jobs in Wales by November 2029 and to train people across Wales and the UK in technology and AI. It is an ambition, not our current size. We will report progress honestly as the team grows.
Training pathway
We are designing a training pathway for future AI engineers, including graduate and apprenticeship routes with universities and colleges. It is in development and not yet open. Read about the planned pathway.
